The power of prayer - Part 2
Heavenly Father, we thank you for Your Word, may You reveal to us the knowledge and wisdom behind it as we read it today In Jesus Name.
Today's lead Scripture is from 2 Chronicles 7:14 and it says;
"If my people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land."
The above Words were spoken by the LORD when He spoke to Solomon in a dream. I believe they portray the results and benefits of prayer which is our land being healed and sin being forgiven. In addition, they also highlight the fact that God wants to hear from us. He looks forward to our prayers and meeting our needs as a loving Father. In Jeremiah 29:13-14, "And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by You says the LORD."
I love this portion of Scripture because it not only reflects the integrity of God that when we seek him in prayer, He shall hear us and not play hide and seek. This should be an "incentive" to seek God in prayer because God clearly wants to hear from us. Often times, the enemy can cause deception making you wonder if God will listen to your prayer but the above Scriptures tells otherwise. When we pray and seek God's face, there is only one result - He will hear us from heaven.
Consequently, seeking God in prayer establishes a relationship with Him and us. Just like any other human relationship, communication is key and in this context, prayer is the best way for us to communicate with our Heavenly Father. However it is important to remember that just like any parent, God already knows us, in Jeremiah 1:5 he knows us before we were formed in our mother's wombs. Hence the relationship that stems from prayer is more for us, as it not only helps us to build a relationship with the Father, but it also guides us to know and experience God's goodness and mercy in our lives.
As you choose to incline yourself towards more prayer today and hopefully always, I encourage you to also open your Bible and know the Word during these moments as it is one of the best ways to encounter and know God's character, His plans for your life and His unending love for you.
I'll end with Jesus' Words in Luke 11:9-10
"9.So I say to you, ask and it will be given to you; seek , and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
10.For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened."
AMEN.
Invitation to salvation: Finally, in case you have not already, I invite you to believe with your heart and confess with your mouth that; Jesus Christ, the Son of God came in a human body to die for my sins. I repent of my sin. I choose Him as my Lord and Saviour today and forever.
Congratulations, by grace you have been saved and are now a new creation in Christ Jesus. The old life has passed away and you have received the free gift of salvation into your life. To the glory of the Almighty God. Amen.
As a new believer, I urge you to prayerfully consider becoming a member of a church and buying a Bible or downloading the Bible app on your mobile in case you don't already own one!
